Kan was born in Kobe, Japan and studied fine art and photography in Kobe, Osaka, and Tokyo. In 1977 Kan moved to New York City and currently has studios in the historical Soho art district of New York and Maui Hawaii.

Kan’s 28 years of commercial photography work incorporates the illusion of motion transformed onto still photographs. For years Kan has mastered moving liquids and is the creator of “Puddle-Art”. Using this new medium Kan makes recognizable shapes emerge from seemingly random drops of water. With his vast technical knowledge and romantic interpretations of the inanimate, Kan creates depth and motion in masterful still-life photography.

Kan’s state of the art in-house digital finishing is unbeatable when photocomposition and retouching are necessary using his carefully created elements.

Challenging creative projects are what Kan lives for and he looks forward to making magic as part of the creative team! Check out Kan's new project: Tile Art
